A 40-year-old New York City man is behind bars after police say he assaulted a teenage boy in Kingston.

Kingston Police received a call about a fight in progress involving a number of people in the area of Pine Grove Street and Broadway near the YMCA. Police say, a 17-year-old male was slashed in the neck during the incident.

On Monday, Kingston detectives concluded their investigation and arrested Mohammed Kabbah for slashing the teenage boy. Kabbah was charged with 2nd-degree assault, a felony, 4th-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanors.

Kabbah is being held at the Kingston Police Department pending his arraignment in Kingston City Court.
