An Orange County man admitted he hit a SUNY New Paltz student with his car and then fled the scene.

On Thursday in Ulster County Court, 30-year-old David Arucri of Walden pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, a felony.

On April 25, 2015 around 3:30 a.m., Arcuri hit a female SUNY New Paltz student with his vehicle on State Route 208 in New Paltz.

Arcuri allegedly left the scene of the accident and attempted to cover up the incident by taking his car to a repair shop and telling his insurance company he hit a deer.

In April of 2016, an Ulster County grand jury indicted Arcuri for assault, leaving the scene of an accident without reporting serious physical injury and insurance fraud.

Arcuri faces one to three years in prison when sentenced in July.
