An Orange County man is accused using a hammer and a crowbar to try to break into a camper with people sleeping inside.

On Friday, deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Office responded Third Street in the Town of Deerpark for a break-in in progress.

After arriving on the scene, deputies arrested 45-year-old Mark Brenneck of Deerpark, after he allegedly attempted to break into a camper while the occupants were inside.

The occupants of the camper told police that they heard banging on the trailer door and noticed Brenneck with a hammer and crowbar trying to break into the camper.

Brenneck was charged with attempted burglary and criminal mischief, felonies, as well as a number of undisclosed misdemeanor charges.

Brenneck was remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $30,000 cash or $60,000 bond.
