State Police arrested an Orange County man and charged him with rape.

On Thursday State Police from Highland were called to investigate a report of a sexual assault or rape which allegedly occurred the evening before. The report claimed that 51-year-old James M. Dunn Jr., of Montgomery forced unwanted sexual intercourse with an adult female while in a private residence in the Town of Shawangunk.

Police say Dunn and the victim knew each other prior to the alleged incident.

Dunn was charged with 1st-degree rape, a class B felony. Dunn was arraigned in Marlborough Town Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail on $100,000 cash / $300,000 bond. He is scheduled appear in Town of Shawangunk Court on March 22.
