Does the town (village or city) that you live in have ordinances that went into effect on November 1? You need to be aware of them or you could get a ticket.

For instance, most towns do not allow parking on the street overnight from November 1 to April 1. The reasoning behind it is that, should it snow or there is bad weather, that the crews need to have cars off the street so snow can be removed.

Do you live in a town with sidewalks? How much time do you have to remove snow and ice from those sidewalks? In the City of Poughkeepsie, you have 4 hours to remove the snow (once it stops) if it snows during the day and 6 hours to remove it should it snow overnight.

Have a fire hydrant in front of your home? It is your responsibility to clear of snow a distance of at least two feet around the hydrant and between the sidewalk throughout winter.

The above examples are for the City of Poughkeepsie. Check with your local town or municipality to find out what is required to keep from getting a ticket.
