The word of the year, may or may not surprise you. See what words it managed to narrowly beat out.

Vape is Oxford's Word of the Year, narrowly beating out such gems as "budtender" and "slacktivist".  Vaping is the act of inhaling and exhaling a smokeless vapor produced by electronic cigarettes.  Oxford says use of the word more than doubled over the course of a year.  A finalist word, "budtender" refers to someone who works for a medical or recreational pot dispensary.  A "slacktivist" is someone who gets involved with Web activism because it requires a minimal amount of time and dedication.
