If you love the taste of marshmallow Peeps but always wished you could drink them, you're in luck.

Starting Monday, March 27 a limited-edition flavor of Italian ice has been added to the menu at Rita's locations throughout the Hudson Valley. According to their website, the flavor will only be offered for a few weeks.

Why in the world would anyone want to have their marshmallow Peeps ground up into an icy slush? The answer seems to be; Why not? Recently a limited-edition Peeps flavored Oreo cookie hit the local stores, with reactions ranging from delighted to downright disgusted.

We got our hands on some Peeps flavored ice and gave it a taste test:

If you're worrying about the sugar content in these new Peeps flavored ices, you'll be relieved to know that the flavor has just as much, or even less sugar than most other Rita's Italian Ice favorites. According to the company's website, the Peeps ice has 48g of sugar. While it's a lot, it's far less than blueberry which has 70g. The limited-edition flavor is even slightly less sugary than another season anomaly, Swedish Fish, which has just under 60g.

But, of course, you're not eating this for health reasons.

If you'd like to try out the Peeps flavored ice, you better get to your local location quickly before it disappears. There are Rita's Italian Ice locations in Wappingers Falls, Poughkeepsie, Vails Gate, Middletown and Monticello. The Hyde Park location announced recently that they would not be reopening this Spring.
