Poe Toaster Wanted. No, it's not a crazy Craigslist ad, this is a legitimate opportunity to share your love of classic writings with the world, or at least Baltimore.

The Maryland Historical Society is now working with Poe Baltimore, Westminster Hall and the Mesmeric Revelations of Edgar Allan Poe to find someone who is willing to perform a toast each year at Poe's grave-site on his birthday. From the late 1940s until 2009, someone took it upon themselves to do just that, but the tradition ended in 2010. No one knows why the tradition ended, some do suspect the person who was doing it, passed away.

The ideal person would live in Baltimore, because the organizations want to be able to have the winner featured at other events throughout the year. Here is a look at the rules, or suggestions, from mdhs.org,

All contestants are encouraged to submit a 75-100 word description of his or her proposed performance, plus any supporting materials such as videos, storyboards, drawings, etc. We want to hear your vision of the “Poe Toaster”, and remember creativity counts! Singular performances, rather than group acts, are encouraged. Submissions are due no later than October 23, 2015. Participants must be 18 years or older.
