Two Orange County residents were arrested after 33 bags of heroin was found in their car.

Wednesday morning, a Port Jervis patrol officer pulled over a car on East Main Street for an alleged driving violation.

During the stop, 30-year-old Tyheim Jackson of Middletown, the driver, was found to be driving with multiple suspensions on his New York State driver's license. He was arrested at the scene for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.

Officers at the scene impounded the vehicle and during an inventory search recovered 33 bags of heroin and a quantity of crack cocaine, police say.

Jackson was additionally charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and a misdemeanor for seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Police allege Jackson intended to sell the heroin.

A passenger in the car, 27-year-old Ashley McDonnell from Port Jervis was allegedly found with a small amount of heroin on her. She was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Jackson and McDonnell were arraigned in Port Jervis City Court and remanded to the custody of the Orange County Sheriff's Office. Jackson on $15,000 cash bail and McDonnell on $1,000 cash bail.
