An Ulster County man is accused of leading police on a high speed chase that ended on foot inside Beer Universe.

On Sunday around 9:30 p.m., Saugerties Police, conducting a speed enforcement detail on Ulster Ave in the Village of Saugerties, observed an Infinity traveling at a high rate of speed.

Officers tried to pull the car over, but the driver of the Infinity attempted to flee police. During the chase with police, the vehicle came to an abrupt stop while making a U-turn on Ulster Avenue. At that point, the driver and passenger fled the car, police say.

A foot pursuit began on Ulster Avenue. The unnamed passenger was quickly taken into custody in the driveway at 105 Ulster Avenue.

Officers continued to chase the driver through a yard, over a fence, and into Beer Universe in Saugerties.

The driver, 24-year-old Walton Rasi Gordon of Saugerties, was found hiding inside of Beer Universe. Gordon injured his leg during the foot chase and received medical attention from DIAZ Paramedics.

Gordon was charged with obstruction of governmental administration and failing to comply with police, misdemeanors, and violations for failing to signal, speeding and blocking a driveway.
