A Hudson Valley construction worker is accused of robbing local homes during his lunch break and keeping confidential information about his coworkers.

On July 14, the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office was called to investigate a burglary at a home on Thompson Road in the Town of Thompson. At the scene, the homeowner said jewelry and two checkbooks were taken.

The investigation revealed that on July 11, a man walked into a bank in Milford, P.A. and cashed one of the stolen checks, police say. On July 13, the same man attempted to cash another check at a bank in the Village of Bloomingburg, but when the teller became suspicious he fled.

Later that day, the man went to a bank on Route 211 in the Town of Wallkill and was able to cash the stolen check, according to police.

Using video surveillance, deputies were able to get a good picture of the suspect.

On July 23, a new burglary was reported at the same home on Thompson Road.

Based on the suspect’s appearance in the bank video and other information that was developed, sheriff’s detectives began to assume the suspect was a construction worker who was working in Monticello.

The trail later led police to the Kartrite water park construction site in Kiamesha Lake. At the site, 30-year-old Justin L. Georgia of the Village of Trumansburg, a union mason working for a construction company on the water park project, was arrested.

Georgia was initially charged with criminal possession of stolen property and sent to Watkins Glen where he was wanted by the Schuyler County Sheriff’s Office on an indictment charging him with two burglaries in March.

On July 25, Sullivan County detectives executed a search warrant on Georgia’s car and allegedly found around $5,000 worth of tools that were taken from the water park construction site.

Detectives also found a folder in the car containing the names, dates of birth, copies of drivers’ licenses and social security numbers belonging to some of Georgia’s coworkers, police say.

According to police, Georgia was committing the burglaries on his lunch hour and then returning to work at the construction site.

On Wednesday, Georgia was transported from the Schuyler County Jail to Sullivan County where he was charged with two counts of burglary and possession of stolen property, felonies.

He was remanded to jail without bail.
