This appears to be the first arrest of the summer for someone leaving their child in a hot car. Let's hope it's the last.

We're not quite sure how anyone still thinks this is an ok thing to do, but The Daily Freeman is reporting that a Kingston man was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly left his young child locked in a car.

Police say that Seth Peress-Teeter  left his child in a car while visiting the DMV office on Fair St. in Kingston.  According to authorities, the car was turned off and the back windows left partially open. The temperature on Wednesday afternoon, when the incident took place, was in the upper 80s.

The child was removed from he vehicle unharmed and released to family members while Peress-Teeter was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He was taken to Ulster County Jail and given a cash bail of $500. Child Protective Services is also investigating.
