A Hudson Valley man is accused of using an assault rifle and shooting at homes.

New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks arrested 56-year-old Martin Costello, of Cortlandt, for criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment, both class D felonies.

Sunday, Troopers were sent to a domestic disturbance on Ely Road in Cortlandt. Police say Costello was outside working on his vehicle when the victim returned to the home.

When the unnamed victim arrived, Costello allegedly entered the garage and grabbed a Panther Arms A-15 assault rifle. The victim was able to enter the home and contact 911 for police assistance.

A police investigation determined that after the victim entered the home, the suspect fired a round from a assault rifle from his garage into the backyard towards occupied homes.

Costello was arraigned in the Town of Cortlandt Justice Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
