A Hudson Valley man is behind bars after he allegedly made a terroristic threat.

On Sept. 26, members of the Ulster County Sheriff's Office received a complaint that 55-year-old John Moran of Kingston threatened violence to employees at the Ulster County Department of Social Services. The threat was made by telephone, police say.

On Saturday, following a nearly two-month investigation, Moran was charged with making a terroristic threat, a felony. He was arraigned in Town of Ulster Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail and $50,000 secured bond.

An order of protection was issued on behalf of the commissioner of the Ulster County Department of Social Services and his employees. Police didn’t go into details about the nature of the alleged threat.
