A Hudson Valley police officer was injured by a woman who admitted she was reading while driving!

On Tuesday, a Ramapo police officer in a marked police vehicle was driving on Forshay Road. While stopped in traffic, the car behind him, driven by a 30-year-old woman from Monsey, rear-ended the police car.

The unnamed female driver was not injured. She knew--and surprisingly admitted--why she didn’t see the police car in front of her causing her to crash into it. She told other officers that she was reading an article on her phone when the accident happened.

The unnamed officer was transported by Ramapo Valley Ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital, Emergency Room. Rockland Paramedics assisted at the scene. Luckily, the officer reportedly only suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The woman driver was issued tickets for use of portable electronic device while operating a vehicle and following too close.
