Police say a Hudson Valley teenager attempted to rob and severely beat up another teenager. The victim is in bad condition.

The Spring Valley Police Department responded to the area of 12 North Myrtle Avenue for a report of a possible robbery. Authorities discovered an unconscious male with apparent facial and head injuries.

The unidentified victim was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital and listed as a “John Doe.” He was then transferred to Westchester Medical Center where he remains in grave condition.

An ensuing police investigation first led to the identity of the victim, who turned out to be an eighteen year old man. A suspect was soon developed.

Jiwan Coleman, 16, of Spring Valley, NY was arrested late Tuesday night. He was charged with 2nd-degree attempted murder and 1st-degree assault.

Colman was arraigned Wednesday morning in Spring Valley Justice held on $3,500,000 bail.
