Police have identified the man who died in a one-car crash Monday morning in Red Hook.

The victim in the crash has been identified as Robert Yowell, 49, from Albany. There are no further updates available at this time, according to Captain John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.

As we previously reported, the crash happened Monday morning around 10:50 a.m. near the Columbia County border. A preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling on Route 9 southbound, when it left the road and struck a tree.

Yowell was unconscious and trapped in the vehicle when officers arrived. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The section of Route 9 where the fatal accident occurred was closed for three hours as the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office and the Dutchess County Medical Examiner’s Office investigated.

Watterson said the investigation into the cause of the crash is still ongoing.
