Two Hudson Valley communities got a big scare following reports of a child abduction.

On Wednesday around 8:30 a.m., a child abduction on Plattekill Road in Marlboro was reported to the Town of Marlborough Police Department.

An investigation revealed that a child abduction attempt didn't occur, police say. The driver and vehicle were identified and the driver’s actions were misinterpreted, according to the Town of Marlborough Police Department.

On Monday around 6 p.m., the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department was told about a suspicious incident which involved a possible child luring.

The Spackenkill School District sent out a message to parents saying a 14-year-old girl was asked by the driver of a white van with commercial lettering to get into the van.

On Wednesday, Town of Poughkeepsie police found the van. After speaking with the driver, a 38-year-old from Florida, no charges where filed, police say.
