Police arrested a local man after they say he abused, assaulted, and injured elderly people.

State Police at Liberty charged 43-year-old Michael Fedderman, of Liberty with 2nd-degree assault, 1st-degree endangering the welfare of a vulnerable elderly person, 1st-degree endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disable person, all felonies, and 3rd-degree assault, a misdemeanor.

Police began an investigation after two elderly people were injured. Police say the injuries were sustained on different occasions over the course of the past several months, and at least one assault involved a dangerous instrument.

During the investigation police also learned that Fedderman allegedly endangered the welfare of a developmentally disabled man.

Fedderman was arraigned in the Town of Liberty Court and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail in lieu of $40,000 cash bail. Additional charges are anticipated.
