The state Division of Military and Naval Affairs said an unidentified man was taken into custody at the gate to the Stewart Air National Guard Base on Wednesday morning.

Authorities say that the man arrived at the gate at 9:21 a.m., carrying a bag, and said he was looking to “do harm to law enforcement personnel.”

The Times Herald Record says that the 105th Base Defense Squadron, NY Sate Police and Town of Newburgh Police all responded at the scene. The unidentified man was taken into custody and transported to a local hospital. DMNA spokesman Eric Durr said NY state police screened the bag and found nothing harmful inside it.
