The Monticello school district has placed five schools on lock-down as a precaution after a suspect involved in a shooting escaped police custody this morning, according to the Times Herald Record. The district said the Robert J. Kaiser Middle School and Monticello High School are on lock-down. Police officers have been stationed at the schools according to the district.

According to a note on its website, the district say there will also be police officers outside of Emma C. Chase, George L. Cooke and Kenneth L. Rutherford Elementary Schools to watch over students arriving to school. The three schools will also be on lock-down once all students are inside, says the school district.

Right now details of the shooting were not available.
