A Newburgh man is accused of driving while impaired by drugs in the Hudson Valley with a loaded gun, cocaine, heroin and more in his car.

New York State Police from Middletown charged 31-year-old Carlos A. Colon, of Newburgh with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, four-counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving while ability impaired by drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana.

On Friday around 10 p.m., troopers stopped a 1997 Nissan pickup truck driven by Colon for alleged erratic driving on Interstate 84 west in the Town of Wawayanda.

During the traffic stop, police say Colon gave them reasons to search the truck. The search allegedly led to the discovery of a loaded .380 caliber pistol, 44 grams of powder cocaine, over 15 grams of heroin and small quantities of marijuana and other drugs.

Colon was arraigned before in the Town of Wawayanda Court and committed to Orange County Jail without bail.
