Police say a Poughkeepsie woman is responsible for starting a fire at City of Poughkeepsie apartment building where she used to live.

On April 21, 2016 around 10:00 p.m., the City of Poughkeepsie Fire Department responded to 28 Franklin Street for a reported structure fire on the first floor. After the fire was extinguished, investigators from the fire department determined that the fire was suspicious.

Officials say the fire started from multiple locations inside the first floor apartment. Members of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department were called to scene to begin an investigation.

On Wednesday, Detectives arrested 37-year-old Susan M. Marzan for allegedly starting the fire. Police say Marzan is a former tenant of the Franklin Street apartment.

Marazan was charged with 2nd-degree arson, a class B felony and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
Marzan was arraigned at City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond.
