Mery Isabel Quinde Castro faces serious charges after being accused of tying her child to a bush while she went to babysit. The 22 year-old Rockland County mother has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, according to CBS New York.

Castro’s son was found all alone, tied to a bush outside a Spring Valley apartment complex. The 4 year-old boy was tied to the bush for about half an hour Tuesday morning, says CBS New York

Spring Valley police Chief Paul Modica said that the boy didn't want to go into the apartment so he was tied up by his mother using the leash to his backpack. Modica said this was some sort of 'time out' punishment.

But Castro’s sister defends the mother however, saying she had no choice but to restrain the little boy. Castro's sister said the boy could be very wild, and that her sister was not a bad mother.

Neighbors spotted the 4 year-old and notified police. Castro appeared in Spring Valley court, where a judge ordered bail set at $2,500. Her sister pulled out the cash with no hesitation says CBS NY. The 22 year-old mother answered no questions as she headed home to see the little boy. She was due back in court Thursday morning.
