Authorities are attempting to identify a woman who may be a witness in the Halle Schmidt missing person/death investigation.

The unidentified woman may go by the name "Molly", and is being described as a white female in her mid twenties. Her height and weight are unknown at this time. The woman does have blonde hair, that may or may not be in a bun.

It is believed that she may be from the Troy area, but that is not confirmed. According to a press release, it is believed that the woman was picked up at the Dinosaur Barbeque restaurant in Troy on Friday September 2nd in a dark gray 2016 Dodge Challenger and taken to the Greenport/Hudson area.

Though it has not been verified, she may be estranged from her family, police say.

Anyone with information regarding this possible witness, is urged to contact the Columbia County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Branch at (518) 828-4216.
