Police are looking for the gunman after they say someone drove by a Mother’s Day BBQ and opened fire. At least one person was shot.

On Sunday at around 6:20 p.m., City of Newburgh police responded to the area of Liberty Street and Clinton Street for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, police determined that a shooting had occurred.

Authorities were told an off-white vehicle was driving by a large group of residents who were gathered outside having a barbecue. An occupant of the vehicle fired multiple shots at the group. The vehicle then fled the area.

One individual from the group, a 26-year-old Newburgh resident, was located at St. Lukes Hospital with a gunshot injury to his hip. His name is not being released.

Officials say he was taken to the hospital by a family member. The unnamed victim’s injuries aren’t considered life threatening.

Also on Mother's Day, a man was shot multiple times in Poughkeepsie. Police are also actively looking for the shooter.
