Wallkill police responded to a report of a robbery at 281 Route 211 East Tuesday afternoon. Wallkill Detective Christopher DiNapoli investigated the incident which took place on Sept. 17 and arrested a 16-year-old Middletown boy.

According to the Town of Wallkill Police Department Chief Robert Hertman, the incident took place on the evening of Sept. 17 when the teen approached an unidentified woman who was walking on Pilgrims Corners Road in the town.

The teen demanded money from the victim and struck her in the face when she failed to comply with his demand, the Wallkill Police Department said in a press release. The assault resulted in bruising to the victim's face and a third-degree assault charge for the teen, along with charges of attempted robbery in the third degree and attempted petit larceny.

The teen was arraigned on the charges before Judge Peter Green in the Town of Wallkill Court. Upon arraignment he was remanded to the Orange County Jail on $10,000 cash bail or a $20,000 bond.
