Two Dutchess County store clerks were charged with unlawfully dealing with a minor as a result of underage drinking enforcement operation.

While accompanied by plainclothed police investigators, a 19-year old volunteer visited 16 stores in  Northern Dutchess County and attempted to purchase alcoholic beverages.

Two clerks at different stores sold alcohol to the minor and were charged with unlawfully dealing with a minor. The Rhinebeck Mobil gas station on Springbrook Avenue in the Village of Rhinebeck, and the Shell gas station on State Route 9 in Hyde Park are the two stores where the clerks work, according to State Police.

Both of the store clerks were issued appearance tickets to appear in court at a later date. The owners of the stores could face civil penalties imposed by the State Liquor Authority.
