An Ulster County man was arrested on the New York State Thruway for allegedly possession hash oil and marijuana.

Wednesday morning, State Police from the Albany area stopped a vehicle on I-87 at Exit 23 for a traffic violation. The driver of the vehicle, 47-year-old Robert J. Robinson Jr. of Kingston was found to be in possession of more than 45 grams of hash oil and a small quantity of marijuana, police say.

Buzzfeed says hash oil, or wax, is the next big thing in the marijuana world. At California dispensaries, hash oil accounts for about 40% of all sales. Buzzfeed reports that hash oil has caused the number of home lab explosions to rise and the drug causes unknown health risks.

Robinson was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, hash oil, a class C felony, and aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor. He was also given a violation for unlawful possession of marijuana.

Robinson was arraigned before the City of Albany Court and released on his own recognizance to reappear on Sept. 30
