An Ulster County man allegedly sold drugs to undercover officers near a local school.

Since early this year, the Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT) has been investigating the sale of narcotics in the Ellenville area.

During their investigation, 30-year-old Christopher Miles of Ellenville sold Oxycodone, police say. An arrest warrant was recently issued by Ellenville Village Court. Wednesday evening, Miles was arrested by uniformed members of the Village of Ellenville Police.

Miles was charged third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance in or near school grounds, all felonies. Officials didn’t release the name of the school.

Miles is currently on parole supervision for a previous assault of an officer, police say.  Parole violation action was launched.

He was arraigned in the Village of Ellenville Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secured bond.

The following agencies have members assigned to URGENT: Ulster County Sheriff's Office, Ulster County District Attorney's Office, Town of Woodstock Police, Town of Lloyd Police, Town of Shandaken Police, Ulster County Probation, Town of Plattekill Police, Town of Marlborough Police, Town of New Paltz Police, Village of Ellenville Police and the United States Department of Homeland Security Investigations.
