An unlicensed driver in Ulster County is accused of driving impaired by drugs, in possession of heroin and more.

On Wednesday around 4:15 p.m., a 911 call reported a car heading north on Route 9W in the Town of Esopus that nearly hit oncoming traffic.

Deputies from the Ulster County Sheriff's Office soon found the car. The driver, 26-year-old Daniel J. Gibbs of Kingston, was allegedly driving while impaired by drugs, with a suspended New York State Driver's License and in possession of drug paraphernalia, a hypodermic needle, and a quantity of heroin.

Gibbs was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony, operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument, all misdemeanors, and several traffic infractions.

Gibbs was arraigned in the Town of Esopus Justice Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 secured bond.
