A well-known Hudson Valley McDonald's will close its doors shocking many local residents. Hudson Valley News Network reports the restaurant, in Saugerties on Manor Lane just off route 9w, will shut it's doors for good at the end of the month. This particular location featured one of the areas biggest indoor play areas.

According to employees at the store who did not want to be identified, they've known for weeks about the closure. Many are transferring to the McDonald's on Route 212 near New York State Thruway exit 20.

Owner Dave Optstad posted the closure message on the marquee in front of the restaurant thanking the community for all the support over the years. Optstad owns five additional McDonald's in the area including the Hyde Park and Pleasant Valley locations.

While traffic at the store is ok, the move reportedly has financial motivations as the location requires a major remodel job to bring it up to current McDonald's standards.
