A Port Jervis man is in trouble with the law for allegedly breaking into and damaging a local church.

On Tuesday, Port Jervis Police arrested 25-year-old Jeremy McMurray and charged him with burglary, criminal mischief, and aggravated harassment, all felonies.

McMurray is accused of forcibly breaking and entering into St. Mary’s Church Chapel located on Ball Street and causing extensive damage to the chapel.

McMurray was arrested by officers while he was exiting the Chapel Building on Tuesday around 1:40 a.m.

McMurray was arraigned in City of Port Jervis Court and remanded to Orange County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail pending further court appearances.
