It was a very scary situation for one Hudson Valley school district when they learned about a possible child abduction at a bus stop.

On Tuesday, Tri-Valley Central School District superintendent Thomas W. Palmer alerted parents and the local community about an alleged child abduction attempt a bus stop in the school district area earlier that morning.

“Even though it didn’t happen on our campus, our schools were on lockout while the police conducted their investigation into the alleged abduction attempt,” Palmer wrote in an online letter to parents and the local community.

Sullivan County Police searched the area and later concluded that an abduction didn’t occur. Following the police investigation the lockdown was lifted.

It’s unclear at this time how or who informed the school district about the possible alleged child abduction.

“Student and staff safety remains our highest priority,” Palmer wrote. “If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me or your child’s principal.”
