Poughkeepsie Galleria Losing Another Store

Another chain is leaving the Poughkeepsie Galleria.

Yet another shop will be vacant at the Poughkeepsie Galleria this year. In what seems like an endless list of retail stores that are shuttering their doors, Teavana is the latest company to go belly-up.

A stroll through any of the local Hudson Valley malls reveals a troubling amount of unoccupied stores. The addition of dollar stores and other low-budget retailers has helped fill the space, but some fear it isn't doing much to drive people back to retail.

As Sears, JC Penney and Macy's continue to announce store closings, things may get even worse.

According to CNN, Teavana was purchased by Starbucks for $620 Million in 2012. The chain of tea shops had trouble attracting customers, but Starbucks was convinced they could turn things around. Unfortunately, even the heavy-hitting coffee retailer couldn't help revive the struggling business and announced that all stores would be closed by Spring of 2018.
