A traffic stop on the New York State Thruway led to an arrest for a Poughkeepsie man earlier this week. The Poughkeepsie Journal reports Derrick Mitchell was stopped and allegedly found to be in possession of eight pounds of marijuana. He was arrested on a felony criminal possession charge. Mitchell's passenger in the car, Luis Vergara, was also arrested after allegedy being found in possession of several fake driver's licenses from different states.

Here's the interesting thing, Vergara's bail was set at $20,000 for the fraudulent licenses, while Mitchell's was set at $2,500 for the eight pounds of marijuana.

Both were brought before a judge in the Town of Catskill court.

Do you think New York will be among the next states to legalize recreational marijuana? The Vermont State Legislature recently proposed ending prohibition.
