McDonald's in Poughkeepsie has just become one of only a few Tri-State restaurants that now features the restaurant chains new "Create Your Own Burger" kiosks.

The experimental program from McDonald's is called "Create Your Taste" and it allows customers to input their order on an interactive kiosk, building their own, customizable burger from a wide variety of ingredients.

Customers were astonished on Thursday when the program officially kicked off with very little fanfare at the McDonald's on Main Street in Poughkeepsie. Among some of the choices customers were able to make when building their burger were arteisan or sesame buns, American or white cheddar cheese and a whole host of toppings including Mac Sauce, grilled tomato, guacamole, jalapenos, crispy onions, Pico De Gallo and two different varieties of bacon including maple.

After assembling your burger and choosing sides payment is made right at the kiosk with a credit card or Apple Pay. Then the customer is instructed to select a locator disc to bring to the table so servers can track down where to bring the order. That's right, the new "Create Your Own Burger" program includes table service.

Most customers at the McDonald's in Poughkeepsie seemed excited about the new service, while others were clearly overwhelmed by the choices offered when creating their own burger. More McDonald's locations are expected to add the service, so keep your eyes open for more kiosks unexpectedly popping up around the Hudson Valley.
