Presidential candidate Ben Carson allegedly lied about being offered a scholarship to the Hudson Valley's own West Point.

NBC News reports in his 1996 autobiography 'Gifted Hands', Carson wrote he was 'offered a full scholarship to West Point'. He claimed the offer came after dining at West Point with his ROTC supervisors. His campaign has come out and confirmed that he never applied to the military academy in the first place. In response, Carson stated to the New York Times:

I don't remember all the specific details. Because I had done so extraordinarily well you know I was told that someone like me - they could get a scholarship to West Point. But I made it clear I was going to pursue a career in medicine."

Over the years, Carson has implied numerous times he had a standing offer to attend the Hudson Valley military academy. West Point does not offer full scholarships, it is free to attend for those nominated by a member of congress.
