Today the Culinary Institute of America unveiled a breathtaking new dining and social venue for its students. Take a virtual tour of "The Egg" before it's opened to the public.

It's safe to say that the young men and women studying at the CIA have a more discerning palate than the typical college student. So it only made sense to give them an on-campus location for high-quality prepared foods, as well as groceries. The result is "The Egg."

This state of the art facility will be a hub for student dining and recreation and will also house administrative offices and classrooms. The Egg is designed for CIA students to dine, play, learn, and socialize with each other. The spacious center can seat 500 students, with additional room on the outside patios for an additional 150.

According to the CIA's website, The Egg will offer a wide variety of dining choices, including The Line, The Café, and the Innovation Station, which will be run by some lucky bachelor’s degree students. Student teams will compete for the chance to actually operate their own "pop-up" foodservice station, designing the space from the ground up. The Innovation Station will change from season to season, being operated by new students each semester.

This Fall, the Egg will also be home to a brand new brewery that will serve as a classroom and production facility for the rest of the campus. It's part of a joint partnership between the school and Brooklyn Brewery. Beers will be available to students at The Egg, and to outside visitors in the restaurants and cafes on campus.

If you're not lucky enough to be a student, you can still experience "The Egg" for yourself. Chef Waldy Malouf from the Culinary Institute of America was kind enough to give us an exclusive sneak-peek of this incredible new space:
