The prison worker who assisted convicted murderers Richard Matt and David Sweat has been sentenced for her role in the escape and some are saying she got off too easy.

The New York Post is reporting Joyce Mitchell will be spending up to seven years behind bars. The judge also set a date for November to determine how much of the $120,000 in restitution she must pay back. Mitchell pleaded guilty to the charges and in a statement before the judge said she'd take it all back if she could.

Sweat and Matt evaded capture for three weeks with over 1,000 people involved in the search. Sweat was eventually captured while Matt was killed in late June.

Mitchell was to drive the getaway car after supplying the criminals with the tools to escape. Instead, she suffered a panic attack, went to the hospital and has been in jail ever since.
