Over the last few weeks, I have been seeing more and more online about a certain quarter that is worth more than $35,000. This got me to thinking, could I possibly have one of these quarters stashed in my quarter bank? Yes, I have a quarter bank. When I was younger my grandmother would save her quarters to give to me and my sisters. So, when someone gave me a small little bank, shaped like a Mini Cooper, I too started to just use this as a place to stash quarters, when it is full, I know I have about $50 to do whatever it is that I want to with.

I pulled out the quarters and went through them, not sure of what I should exactly be looking for, except that the Ebay auction quarter that was getting so much press was from 1970. I figured that if I was going to look through my quarters, I should do a little more research to see if there are any other years that I should be looking for too. Turns out there are a few years that could potentially be worth more than just 25 cents.

According to coins.thefuntimesguide.com here are a few Washington faced quarters that I should also be looking for:

Old & Rare Copper-Nickel Washington Quarters
The copper-nickel quarters you should look for include:
1982-P — $3 and up (values for this quarter and the next 3 quarters are for specimens in circulated grades)
1982-D — $1.50 and up
1983-P — $5 and up
1983-D — $3.50 and up
2004-D Wisconsin quarter, extra leaf low — $130 and up

The not so good news, after looking through approximately 100 quarters, I did not find one of the ones that could possibly go for $35,000 on eBay. What I did find was one from 1982 with the "D" mint mark (D showing that this quarter was minted in Denver), so I might have a quarter that is worth $1.50. But I still have no idea what I should do to get that $1.50. Anyone know where I could take it to find out?
