Queens of the Stone Age Fan Jumps Onstage, Promptly Gets Booted Off by Josh Homme

An overeager Queens of the Stone Age fan jumped onstage during the band’s performance in St. Petersburg, Fla., Tuesday night. It didn’t go well.

As you can see in the above video, during the song ‘The Vampyre of Time and Memory’ (from their latest excellent album ‘. . . Like Clockwork’), a fan jumps onstage and attempts to do what other idiot fans who jump onstage during concerts attempt to do: draw attention away from the band and to themselves.

But Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme is having none of it. Homme, who’s a pretty big dude, stops singing, grabs the guy and tosses him from the stage to the cheers of other audience members.

If you don’t want to watch the entire five-minute clip (and you may not want to — sound quality is spotty, and it looks like it was shot from about three miles away), the good stuff starts around the 1:19 mark, when the fan struts onstage like he’s now a member of QOTSA (or at least one of their roadies).

After he forcibly returns the stage-rusher to the crowd (where he hopefully was devoured like a piece of raw meat by the ravenous QOTSA fans), Homme rolls into a two-minute-long rant against the guy. “I don’t care if you love me,” he says. “You can stand right there, dude. You’re lucky I didn’t f— you up.”

Before he picks up where he left off, Homme tells the crowd, “You can tell I’m getting more mellow as I get older.” But apparently not mellow enough to enforce a little ass-kicking when he needs to.
