Radio Shack is one of the stores that has been struggling to compete with the BestBuys and Amazon.coms of the electronics world. On March 9, 2017, Radio Shack announced that it would be closing an additional 185 of their remaining stores.

I went passed the Hyde Park location on March 10, 2017 only to see giant clearance and sale signs. When I went in to start shopping and take a look around the place, I went in with a morbid curiosity. Other than knowing that Radio Shack was the place that you used to be able to get weird little electronic pieces that you might need for a science project, cell phones and batteries (everyone knows that they have batteries because every single sales associate at Radio Shack asks you if you need batteries at the check out!).

What I saw in the store included drones, really nice headphones and wall after wall of gadgets and accessories. Did I buy anything? Yes, a new pair of headphones. Why not, everything in the store is at least 20% off, with others allegedly up to 50% off.

Should you start buying items randomly? Check out the return policy, here it is as posted on salemnews.net:

Its stores are open for business, but RadioShack said that anything sold at them cannot be returned for a refund. Its website, however, will continue to accept returns on items bought from RadioShack.com. The company said that those holding a RadioShack gift card have until April 7 to spend it at stores.

Will the Hyde Park store be closing? I didn't have the heart to ask him if he was going to be out of a job. He did though, have the heart to ask me if I needed batteries.
