Ramapo Police Officer Saves 98-year-old Woman from Burning Home
This is like something out of a 1940s comic book.
A police officer named Mike Anton, a former NYPD officer who now works in the traffic division in Ramapo was the first to arrive at the scene on Friday, a home where smoke was billowing out of a back window. He rushed in to find a 98 year-old woman trapped in the kitchen.
He got her out to safety, found a fire extinguisher, and fought flames until crews arrived, managing to contain the fire to just the kitchen. The woman, meanwhile, is expected to make a full recovery of her minor injuries at Good Samaritan Hospital.
