An expected four month bridge closure has been delayed...but for how long?

Last month The State Department of Transportation announced plans to replace a bridge that crosses the Sawkill Creek on Route 199 between Rock City Road and the junction for Route 308. The closure would mean a hefty detour to commuters,12-miles spanning through Red Hook and Rhinebeck.

The bridge was set to be closed on April 7th but residents and commuters were surprised when that day came and went and the bridge remained opened. Days later when the bridge still wasn't closed and work had still not started I wondered what was happening??Im sure I wasn't the only resident who wanted to know what was happening so I had our news man Bobby Welber try and reach out to the DOT to find out what was happening but he came up empty handed. No word, no reason, no nothing....until today.

Thanks to a flashy sign I now know that the closure date has been pushed back to April 25th. Being the friendly community activist I am I wanted to make sure I passed along my new found information. My bright light informant also indicated that the work is still expected to end at the same time, August 12th. But only time and 200 watt light bulbs will tell.

Thanks Mr. Sign for telling me what my town and government could not!
