Mr. Flashy spread the news yesterday afternoon but I was still hesitant to believe it until I saw it with my own eyes. But sure enough, on my morning commute today, there it was: "Bridge Closed." Despite the rain, crews were hard at work on the estimated four-month project.

The bridge located on Route 199 is closed right at the junction for 308 in Milan. When the news broke, I personally was very concerned about the disruption to my commute and the estimated 12-mile detour. However, based on today's adventure, I think you can easily work around it. It will involve some side streets, looping and maneuvering but it works. Signs for the detour are still posted along 9G, Route 308 and Route 199.

According to the Department of Transportation's initial announcement the project is estimated to be completed by Aug. 11, still on track after 5 or 6 delays (I honestly stopped counting). Myself and Mr. Flashy will be sure to keep you updated in anything changes! Happy commuting Dutchess county!
