Police say a 16-year-old boy from Saugerties chased and fired multiple shots at another person.

Around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Saugerties Police responded to a 911 call reporting that an individual with a gun was chasing another person while shooting at them at the Mount Marion Park Development in the Town of Saugerties. Upon arrival the shooter or victim was not found, but a number of bullet casing were discovered on the roadway, officials say.

Following a joint investigation the alleged shooter and victim were found near the park. According to the unnamed victim he and 16-year-old Dylan Amell, of Saugerties were having an argument of money owned to Amell.

During the course of the argument Amell reportedly pulled out a gun and began shooting at the victim. The victim was not struck, however he did sustain minor injuries during the altercation.

The victim was evaluated at the scene by paramedics from DIAZ Ambulance.

The handgun allegeldy used by Amell was recovered by Saugerties Police Detectives about two blocks from the scene of the shooting, several hours after the reported incident occurred.

Amell was charged with 2nd-degree criminal possession of a firearm, 3rd-degree criminal possession of a firearm, felonies, and 2nd-degree menacing, a misdemeanor.

Amell was arraigned in the Town of Saugerties Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $25,000 Cash Bail.
