Going to the movies can be a lot of fun. You pick the perfect seat, have snacks in hand, and the anticipation builds as the lights dim and the surround sound kicks in and you find yourself immersed in the film.

For some people however, it can be an uncomfortable, even scary, experience. For those with sensory sensitivities, having the lights go out can cause anxiety and when the sound comes roaring out of the speakers all around the theater, it can be uncomfortable, even painful. Plus, being able to sit still and be quiet during a film isn’t always easy, or possible.

Regal Cinemas understand that and that’s why they’ve developed the My Way Matinee program throughout the country, allowing more families and individuals to be able to go to the movies.

The films shown are current and family-friendly, but the sound is turned down and the lights are turned up. Plus, it’s okay if singing, shouting, crying, or dancing happen. Everyone there understands. So this weekend, get ready to explore the world inside your phone, Textopolis!

The films typically start at 10:30 am and this Saturday, August 12, the My Way Matinee film at the Regal Cinemas in the Poughkeepsie Galleria will be ‘The Emoji Movie with tickets only $6.50.
