Dutchess County Sheriff's Office Captain John Watterson has announced the arrest of 33-year-old Poughkeepsie resident Candace M. Jackson on welfare fraud charges.

According to Captain Watterson, Jackson was arrested after a joint investigation by the detectives from the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office and investigators from the Dutchess County Department of Community and Family Services which allege that Jackson fraudulently collected over $5,000 in benefits by concealing the fact that one of her children no longer lived with her.  The alleged crime took place between October 2014 and August of 2015.

The Poughkeepsie resident was charged with the felony of Welfare Fraud in the 3rd Degree on January 30, 2018.  Jackson was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and is scheduled to reappear on February 13, 2018.
