Siblings Arrested Following Headless Horse Incident in Saugerties

A pair of siblings were arrested in Saugerties after the brother allegedly tore off the head of a horse and tossed it into traffic.

On Monday around 12:15 a.m., 28-year-old Judah J. Signor of Greenville, N.C, allegedly destroyed a horse sculpture that was in front of the Dutch Tavern in Saugerties. Police say Signor was intoxicated when he pulled the head off of “Gallopin' Around Saugerties horse #11: Endor,” and then tossed it into traffic.

After he was arrested, Signor allegedly became combative with officers, refused to provide his information, kicked items in the booking room, and hit an officer.

Signor was charged with criminal mischief and obstruction of governmental administration, misdemeanors.

Shortly after, 26-year-old Deborah A. Signor, of Brooklyn came to the Saugerties Police station to meet her brother. Authorities say she grew impatient with the dispatcher and pulled the fire alarm in the police station.

The Saugerties Fire Department responded to the false alarm. Deborah Signor was charged with falsely reporting an incident, a felony. She was remanded to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.

Judah Signor was sent to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
